So Cal United Volleyball Club Tryouts

Tryouts will be held at:

Graves Middle School

Graves Middle School

Whittier CA 90605

17 & 18 and Under Divisions

Sunday October 5th from 9am to 11am

15 & 16 and Under Divisions

Sunday October 5th from 12pm to 2pm

12, 13, & 14 and Under Divisions

Sunday October 12th from 12pm to 2pm

Make Up Tryouts for ALL Divisions

Sunday October 12th from 12pm to 2pm

Please arrive 1/2 hour early to check-in and register.

There will be a $10 tryout fee

We are looking for team players who are dedicated to becoming the vest player they can be. We believe in hard work, determination, and discipline in order to achieve personal goals. If you are interested we would love for you to tryout to be apart of our volleyball family.

All About Club Volleyball

Here is an overview of what to expect during
the So Cal United Club Volleyball season

Club Season

Club Volleyball is from October/November - May/June (6 months)    

     Tryouts are held in October/November

     Contract signing, first payment, and uniform try-ons are in November

     Practices start in November

     Tournaments begin in January

     Regionals/End of the Season are in late May or early June


What You Get

  • 1 short sleeve volleyball jersey
  • 1 long sleeve volleyball jersey
  • 1 pair of volleyball shorts
  • 1 team hoodie
  • 1 pair of sweatpants
  • 1 team practice shirt
  • 1 team gym bag

Fees Include:

  • Tournament Fees
  • Practice Gym Fees
  • Uniform Fees
  • Coaches Fees

Athletes are Responsible For:

  • Volleyball Shoes
  • Kneepads
  • Socks
  • please have your own whistle for reffing

Practices are held at Richard L. Graves Middle School

2-3 days a week, 2 hours each practice

Arrive practice at least 10 minutes early to put on your kneepads and shoes along with sweeping the floor and setting up.

Practice Schedules will be posted on the "Schedule" page throughout the season

Practices are FAST PACE, be ready to work, and bring your gym bag with lots of water and gatorade!

Practice Attire


   So Cal United t-shirt
   school team t-shirt
   (anything you can move in)


   Volleyball Spandex
   any other gym/athletic shorts


   Volleyball Shoes (recommended)
   Athletic Shoes
   Please no street/skate shoes




Tournaments begin in January

They will be on either a Saturday or a Sunday at various locations throughout Southern California.

     Some venues charge for parking and charge for entrance fees - bring your cash!

Tournament locations are found out the week of tournament.

They are usually an AM or a PM shift

Your team will be placed in a "seed" either 1, 2, 3, or 4. That will tell you what your game schedule is. (you can check in "Tournament Pools" under "Schedule" for the seed schedules.

AM Tournaments

     Be at your tournament location by 7:00 AM

     1st games start at 8:00

         maximum of 3 games per match (best out of 3 games)

     You eat lunch on your lunch break (usually best to pack your own lunch or team will do potluck)

        not all venues have snack bars

     Four teams per court, you will play ALL teams on your court

     Each team will reff and score keep at least once during the day


     Expect an AM shift to last 6-8 hours long

PM Tournaments

     Be at your tournament location by 1:00 PM

     1st games start when AM shift has left

Everything same as AM shift except you will leave at dark - sometimes as late as 9:30 PM


     Coaches try to make every effort to get every girl on the court during a match.  

During the Season

After many hours of hard practices teams will organize "Team Bonding" days throughout the season. Like....

     Team Dinner, Bowling, T-shirt Making, Making Tie Blankets, Scavenger Hunts, and many more fun stuff!!

The club will schedule a club picture day during the spring time. Past seasons have taken pictures at Creek Park in La Mirada. (Individuals, Team Pics, Club Pics, and Buddy Pics)

At the end of the season there is a team banquet when get your team picture along with a club t-shirt, medal, awards from your coaches, and awards from your "secret sister".
